Kevin Tamlyn

In way of education, Kevin received a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Iowa and then a Master’s Certificate in Financial Markets from St. Xavier University in Chicago.

Kevin began his career in financial services on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange trading floor in 1997 working in the Eurodollar Options trading pit.  He then joined Merrill Lynch’s equities trading desk before moving off the floor to Merrill Lynch Private Client in 1999 as a financial advisor.

Passing the Certified Financial Planning examination in 2003, Kevin assisted families and businesses with their financial planning and investment management needs at Merrill and UBS, prior to joining the independent world in 2015.

After spending sixteen years in the ‘Wall Street’ brokerage channel, Kevin experienced many things that lead him to disagree with the culture and interests of the large, publicly-traded, brokerage firms.

To Kevin, being an ‘Independent Advisor’ means, “As advisors, we are free of being exposed to a culture that has the perpetual desire to increase corporate earnings and various campaigns aimed at expanding profits.  We are free of any external pressures and motives allowing us to only be concerned about our clients’ well-being and helping them achieve their stated goals.

Kevin now enjoys a much broader platform of financial resources to bring to clients to assist their journey to enjoy the life they have worked so hard for.

The Tamlyns consist of seven people including Kevin’s wife, Julie, three daughters, and two sons.  You can find them at various basketball and volleyball tournaments on the weekend.  As basketball has been a large part of Kevin’s life, he still enjoys training aspects and passing along the developmental facets in both the mental and physical parts of the game.
